Laws of Ravenwolf Manor
Greetings to All,
The following rules will be enforced during your stay at the manor. Enjoy your stay: The Laws of Ravenwolf Manor™ Welcome Again to Ravenwolf Manor™. We have designed these forums to an interactive experience for our members. In order to make things run as smoothly as possible and decrease problems, we ask that you follow the rules and have fun. The Laws of Ravenwolf Manor™ have been categorized for easy reference. The following is a list of General Manor-wide rules and regulations. Although we are fairly relaxed, the rules are here to solve issues that arise in any area of Ravenwolf Manor™. Each Forum will have additional rules if necessary. By registering as a Member, You agree to the terms and rules contained within. Rules are subject to change with/without notice, but a current version will be made available within “Laws of Ravenwolf Manor™” in the Main Gate. Registration: Registration is required for access. Registration is currently free to new members. To register, click on the link ‘Register’ on the main page. Fill out all fields. You will be sent an email confirmation. Check your email, and click on the link in the email to confirm your membership. Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is prohibited and is grounds for immediate account deletion. Posting: These forums are a safe haven for all views from people from all walks of life. The official language is English. Respect the netiquette: Lurk and get to know the forum before you post. Members should post in a way, which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g.! and?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will face sanctions. Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Pick the most relevant forum for your post. If you are unsure, put it in the Manor-Wide Mayhem forum, say you were not sure where it belonged, and someone will move it to the proper forum for you. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning Posts must contribute a value to the forums. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the like. Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention. No cross posting. Post your message once, to the appropriate forum and nowhere else or it will be locked or deleted without warning. Double posting, ie. posting twice in a row or more in a single topic is allowed if the secondary posts clarify or contribute to the previous post. Double posting inorder to 'Bump' your topic is phrohibited and will result in a warning and or the topic being closed or deleted Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed. Multiple or repeated posts will be deleted without notice, and the member will be subject to sanctions. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then don't post. The number of posts on this board has no direct relation to the experience of a member. Members should respect the bandwidth of other users and sites. The use of inline ([IMG][/IMG]) image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems for which the user has not received permission to link to may be removed. Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue, which contravenes something in this policy document, they are welcome to bring it to the attention of the Moderating Team. Only do this if a moderator team member has not replied within 72 hours. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members, who consistently "act" as moderators, will be subject to sanctions. As a general rule, avoid repeating vague and unsubstantiated rumors about someone or some company. Stick to your experiences and your opinions, based on what you know not what you have heard on the grapevine. How NOT to post on this forum: 5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like "Why is nobody helping me? I'm sure you know the answer". Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them. Protected Forums: Ravenwolf Manor™ is a participation-based forum. Certain content and capabilities are restricted to users who have not yet reached a particular level of participation. As members participate, they are allowed more access to areas of the manor. Passwords to certain areas are earned by completing a task when you reach certain levels of participation. *If you are not seeing a lot, not able to post replies, or are not able to use certain features, it is due to your participation level. Participate where you can and watch the manor unfold to you. Some of the forums are protected under passwords. This is to protect Myself, the Members, any one who is under 21, and the General Public. Certain content encompasses subjects and complex issues that are directed toward a mature adult audience (non-sexual) i.e. adult humor in Patron’s Parlor. These subjects may be too sensitive for younger members to experience. Support and Conflict Resolution: If you are experiencing difficulties with using the forums, please consult the FAQ, and member posts in the ‘Administration’ help sections. If your question is not listed, please post it there and wait for an answer. Support is offered only via these forums. Do not contact team members privately (via any method) to ask for support. Users found to be contacting team members asking for support will face sanctions. Before posting a support question users are asked to try and solve the issue themselves by researching the FAQ and Ravenwolf Manor Help Center. Users who persistently ask questions without showing any desire to help themselves should expect to receive at best a delayed response and at worst no response at all. When posting a support question bumping is permitted only after 24 hours have elapsed since your last post to that topic. Users who abuse this will face sanctions. Members experiencing a conflict with other members are asked to do the following: There is a link in every post labeled "Report a rules violation". Use it if you believe someone's post violates the forum rules, but treat it like a fire alarm. It is not to be used for anything other than to report rules violations. Please familiarize yourself with the rules prior to using it. Misuse of this link will result in your being suspended from posting on the forum for one week. Members should note that Ravenwolf Manor™ is maintained on a voluntary basis. No team member receives payment of any kind for time spent here. Attachments are not allowed. You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal. You cannot post under other's names. One of the values that drove the founding of this forum is consistency. Generally speaking, people like to know who is giving advice. Using the same name over time builds credibility and allows people to better evaluate the relative merits of each poster's contributions relative to system context, preferences, biases, etc. Any attempt to impersonate a member or hijacking an account will result in termination of account and privileges. Inappropriate content will be removed without notice. Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, racist, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Please use good judgement when choosing user names, avatars, or images to post, and do not attempt to bypass the word filter. It is there for a reason. Register using only one user name, and do not "flood" the board with posts that are off-topic. Creating multiple user accounts or flooding the board will be considered a denial-of-service attack on the forums and will result in your being banned from the forum and reported to your ISP. No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated. Sanctions: Punishments for Violations of Manor Laws We have a very active moderation team and a lot of members who will remind you of the rules should you not stick to them, be it for not having read them properly or for simply not caring. As in real life, there must be some measures put into place for people who keep infringing these rules, in real life it's the penal code, here it is these sanctions: Each moderator can report you for violating a forum rule. Such a report contains a timestamp, the forum rule you violated and the post in question. Arguing with team members after having received a warning, an immediate temporary ‘cooling off’ ban will be put in place for 12 hours and you will accrue 3 points in addition to any applicable sanctions based on your point status. Ravenwolf Manor™ uses the following point system: Minor offenses will result in 1 point Major offenses will result in 5 points. Account Suspensions: If you accrue 3 points in a 24-hour period, your account will be suspended for 3 days. If you accrue 5 points in a 7-day period, your account will be suspended for 14 days. If you accrue 15 points in a 30-day period, your account will be suspended for 30 days. After 30 days of suspension your account will be reinstated, as we believe everybody should get a second chance. The point list will start from zero again. If a member should continue to violate forum rules and gets suspended once more his/her account will be terminated without further notice. Excessive Non-Participation, Extended Inactivity, Violation of Manor Law will result in account suspension or deletion. Non-participation is defined as: Logging into your account without posting in a forum. Extended Inactivity is defined as: Not logging into your account for the period of 30 Days. * If you are experiencing technical difficulties such as 'your computer is being repaired', 'Internet Access isn't available to me right now.’ send Lord Drakcos von Ravenwolf an email with the subject line: Technical Difficulties Preventing Participation, (There are public internet computers available i.e. the public library), and let us know of your situation. ** If you are not participating due to a lack of knowledge and/or interest in the Manor, post a subject idea in "Ravenwolf Manor™ Administration" > 'Manor Architects'. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While Ravenwolf Manor™ may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurrence. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account of evade an email ban. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user. If you wish to contest a strike send a PM to the Moderating Team with a copy of the post in question and an explanation why you think the sanction is not justified. In case of a suspension you can send a complaint to support.ravenwolfmanor[at]gmail[dot]com. The email is only to be used in case of a suspension and you forfeit your right to an appeal if you use it to contest a regular strike not leading to a suspension. By publicly complaining about a sanction in any way (starting with pointing out "I've been sanctioned for this and that"), or go badmouthing this forum and its members on another board you also forfeit your rights to an appeal and the sanctions will be permanent without exception. Any member who threatens anyone on the forum, via PM, instant messengers, or Email, will be banned immediately without notice.
